Foundation Awards More Than $2 Million in 2007
Through the work of the Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Mississippi Foundation, we are spreading our message throughout the state by funding many programs that share our vision - to improve the health and wellness of our fellow Mississippians.
In its fourth year of grantmaking, the Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Mississippi Foundation has emerged as one of the top 10 foundations in the state in assets, and is the largest corporate foundation. In 2007, the Foundation awarded grants totaling more than $2 million to programs around the state that are working to build healthy lives.
The Foundation does its part to ensure the funds are being used accordingly. Each organization receiving a grant from the Foundation must complete a Quarterly Evaluation Report which evaluates the program's success.
"The state needs a leader to transform Mississippi's health and wellness culture. Because of the resources that Blue Cross makes available, the Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Mississippi Foundation can provide this leadership. We want to be partners with our grantee organizations, not just give them a check," said Wade Overstreet, Director, Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Mississippi Foundation. "We want to work with them to ensure their programs achieve the results they've envisioned and that the people of Mississippi truly benefit from their efforts."
