Health Gallery Children's
Museum Exhibit / 2006
The Mississippi Children's Museum broke ground in Fall 2007, with the Foundation contributing funds for its Health Gallery exhibit. The Health Gallery will provide children and their families with a model for healthy, active lifestyles and choices. The concept of the museum originated with a group of community leaders who shared the goal of empowering and inspiring the children of Mississippi, regardless of their background, to discover their potential through their own curiosity and creativity. The hands-on exhibits and programs will focus on literacy, the arts, science, health and nutrition, helping children mature into healthy, productive adults. Featured exhibits will encourage them to participate in physical activity outside of museum visits or programs. They also will learn simple ways to make healthy eating choices part of their everyday lives and will become familiar with the components of a healthy and balanced diet and food and cooking safety.
