Magnolia Speech School / 2006

Magnolia Speech School is the recipient of a grant to fund a physical education program. The school works with children who are hearing or language impaired by teaching them to speak through auditory-oral training with the goal to transition them to a traditional classroom. School leaders have hired a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant who is leading the newly-developed wellness and sports program at the school. The program will provide students with the opportunity to exercise regularly, play games and sports and learn the language they will need for these activities. Along with the opportunity to exercise regularly, the program also provides an additional language experience with group activities and one-on-one interaction.

"Thanks to the Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Mississippi Foundation, we finally have a Physical Education Program! The children are participating in games, sports and an organized exercise program while learning rules, social skills and the words associated with these activities. Thank You!"
