About the Foundation

Physical activity is making a comeback in schools across Mississippi, and 2008 will be remembered as the year kids began getting fit thanks to the support of the Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Mississippi Foundation.

On any given school day, you can find kids arriving at school early to take an early morning walk with their classmates and teachers on new outdoor walking tracks. Other schools feature the signature red and blue outdoor fitness equipment from Project Fit America that is helping to strengthen kids’ growing bodies.

Following the passage and implementation of the Mississippi Healthy Students Act, 46 schools across the state received Project Fit America fitness equipment in 2008 through funding from the Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Mississippi Foundation, and another seven schools welcomed new walking tracks.

This is helping to energize schools and strengthen their commitment to supporting a healthier future for our state. These grants have also enabled thousands of children to reap the benefits of a healthy body while developing a healthy mind. The Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Mississippi Foundation invites you to share in our commitment to a brighter and healthier future for our state.
